Full Design Service

Initial Consultation

During this meeting I will see the garden and discuss what you would like from the space and how much your budget for the project is likely to be. Following the meeting, you will receive a quote for the design work

 .

Site Survey and Analysis

On commission you will sign an agreement and then a site survey will be carried out. For smaller gardens I will carry this out with my team.  For larger gardens I will provide details of a surveying company who will carry out a detailed survey and produce CAD drawings which are used in the design process.  The company will charge separately for this service.

This detailed analysis is essential so that accurate drawings can be produced.  It will include ascertaining boundaries, levels, locations of existing features and soil analysis.

Design Brief & Concept Plan

Once your requirements are fully understood you will be provided with a design brief and a concept plan. You will see the proposed layout of the space including hard landscaping (patio areas, decking, water features, paths) and planting areas.  At this stage we can talk through any changes to the design that may be required before the budget for the project is finalised.

3D Visuals

This is a digital drawing of what the design will look like. Some people are happy to interpret the 2D concept plan, whilst others prefer a 3D image to fully understand what the garden will look like.

 Technical Drawings & Detailed Plans

A scaled masterplan will be provided which will show the elements required for contractors to construct the garden. Technical drawings are the drawings and specifications that ensure your garden is built to the correct standards by the contractor and as shown in the design proposal.  They will allow then contractor to estimate material and building costs for the garden.

Planting Plans, Planting Schedules & Plant Maintenance Schedules

These are plans that show the individual plant names and proposed locations for all the plants. The plan will take into consideration the size and space which the plants will need to grow. The schedule is used to purchase plants and is a list of the plants with sizes and quantities.

Getting Quotations

Once the design work is complete you will be able to send out the pack of information  to constructors for quotations for the build of the garden.

Overseeing the Build

Should you wish us to oversee the build of the design then we will discuss this with you separately. There will be a separate charge for this.

Planting Schemes and Beds

You may just want to have some help in rethinking your planting.  Perhaps you need some advice with what will grow best in your situation.  Maybe you would like to extend the interest in your beds to have more seasonal interest.  As well as helping to choose the right plants, we also offer help in purchasing and planting. This could be for the whole garden or you may want to work on one area of the garden at a time.

Plant Maintenance Schedules

You may be happy with your garden but would like some more information about looking after your plants.  I will visit your garden and see what's growing (this may entail more than one visit during the course of the year) and then provide you with a document with information on caring for your plants.

Garden Renovation

Nature being nature, some gardens can get a little out of control.  You may want to have a one off tidy up of shrubs, beds or hedges.  Although described as a 'one off' this may require more than one visit as not every plant likes being cared for at the same time of year!
